Systemic Family Counseling Training and Supervision for Therapists and other Professionals

February 13, 2014 @ 9:00 am - May 29, 2014 @ 10:30 am

Systemic Family Counseling Training and Supervision

Have you ever had clients that just overwhelmed you with all of their issues?
Have you started working with clients and all of a sudden felt lost
Or nothing seemed to stick and your treatment plan did not achieve the desired goal?
Would you like to learn about underlying dynamic of a family from a systems perspective? Understand how to map family dynamics including your client to inform your treatment plan?
In response to repeated requests, Elmar Dornberger is starting a new 10 week training and supervision group, working with the above questions and many more. We will be using three-dimensional processes that will reveal to both the therapist and the client, the pattern of the issue, its origin and its resolution.
Elmar graduated from Naropa in 2001 and has been in private practice ever since.
We will meet bi-weekly for 90 minutes on Thursday mornings from 9 – 10:30 am.
The price for this training and supervision will be $115 per session or $850 prepaid for all 10 sessions (payment plan available).  The introductory session is separate from the 10 sessions and will be held on Thursday, February 13, from 9 – 10:30 am at a cost of $35.
If you are interested, please contact me at elmar@Hemisphereconsulting.com or 303 818 5969.
My friend Rex, a Naropa University graduate, has encouraged me, for quite some time, to start this group.  In order to make this training valuable, I asked him to answer the following questions and am sharing them with you (with his permission).

What attracts you to family constellation work?
I am attracted by the clarity, simplicity, and comprehensiveness of the approach. It seems to cut through a lot of the therapeutic process that is not always beneficial for the client or the therapist.  I am drawn to the three dimensional tactile element and that the client interacts with the pieces or persons based on their own process and intuition.
It feels like there is much less power dynamic present than in most therapeutic settings.
How do you think this work will help you in your counseling practice?
My purpose for doing therapeutic work is to help relieve suffering in the world. Family constellation work seems like a much more direct and effective way to support clients in relieving their own suffering through uncovering who they really are in relation to their family and  others.  I view this work as having the potential to free my clients from their attachment to the past, so that they can live healthier and more  well-grounded lives based in their present.
What are some of the outcomes you would want to see in this training group?
I would like to feel confident enough to do this work with my clients.  I would like to incorporate it into my work with individual clients and with couples.
What would you like to get out of this personally?
A deeper understanding of the process of attachment and family dynamics/systems to help heal both my wounds and those of my clients.
What is your experience with this work so far and why would you want more?
I have worked with Elmar and the family constellation work several times over the past year and have gained insights into my work with my clients and their family dynamics.  These insights are well beyond what I learned while working on my Masters degree in counseling and thus far in my private practice work.
Rex West, MA, NLC graduated from the Transpersonal Counseling Psychology program at Naropa in May of 2011.  He has worked since then as a Lead Therapist at AIM House in Boulder.  He is the founder and owner of Ground Counseling and the co-founder/co-owner of Grounded Hearts Co-Therapy for couples.
About Elmar Dornberger: “I have been working with this family systems approach for over 13 years now. It has become a lens through which I see all human interactions. My compassion and clarity have increased tremendously because this amazing tool helps me and my clients see behind the curtain from where the issues came and their positive intentions. This in turn helps the clients to disentangle and become free from the issues.”
Elmar has been a presenter and trainer at three national Systemic Family Constellation conferences and has been published in The Knowing Field journal. He has had a private psychotherapy practice since 2001, worked with the homeless, and held numerous public workshops and trainings.
